Our Translate My Store & Currency app is fully compatible with Shopify Markets. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up regions, currencies and languages in Shopify Markets. We have also created a video tutorial on this topic.
Step 1: Language Configuration
Once you're logged into your Shopify admin, click on Settings and then click on Languages.
You will see a section that shows translated languages. In this example, German & French have already been added.
To add a language, click on the Add Language button that's located at the top right hand side of the page. In this example, I will add Italian.
When a language is added, it can be found in the unpublished languages section. Click on the Publish button next to the language to publish it. Once you do this, it will appear in the published languages section.
Step 2: Markets Configuration
Next, I will create a new market. Click on Markets, which is under Settings.
Then click on the Add Markets button that's located at the top right hand side of the page. In this example, I will create a market called euro zone and add 5 countries; Belgium, France, Germany, Italy & United Kingdom and then click on the Save button on the top right.
To select which languages are available in this market, click on the Manage link next to the market you just created and then click on the Manage link next to Domains and Languages.
Under Languages, select Italian and then click on Save.
The Italian language is now enabled in this market. Next, you can set the currency for this market by clicking on the Manage link next to Currency and Pricing. Under Currency, you can set it to be "EUR". If the market includes regions that use different currencies, you can set "Use Local currencies" to be "ON". Then Euro will be used in Belgium, France, Germany & Italy and Pound sterling will be used in United Kingdom.
When I check my Primary Market, which is Canada, I can verify that the changes I made to my other market did not affect it.
Step 3: Translate My Store & Currency Configuration
The App will automatically sync the markets, region, currency, and language settings. However, if you see the settings are not fully synced. You can go to the "Region & Languages" page from menu on the left hand side, then click on the "sync market/region" link, as shown below.
After this is done, all of the settings in the app will be identical to the settings you have configured in Shopify Markets.
Languages can be added from the app as well. Adding a language in the app is very similar to adding a language in your Shopify admin. To add a language, select the language you want to add and then click on the Add button.
When a new language is added, it will appear under the unpublished languages section.
Click on the Publish button to publish it. Once it's published, it will automatically be added to all of your markets. If you want it to be available only to certain markets, you will need to go back to Shopify Markets and deselect the language from any market that you do not want to have this option.
